Silver Jensen, a bestselling author living a picture-perfect life, sees her meticulously planned marriage proposal go disastrously wrong when a pest problem spirals into chaos, exposing deadly secrets that will turn her romantic evening into a fight for survival.

Story
Silver Jensen has it all!
A successful cookbook empire, a pristine home, and a beautiful girlfriend she's ready to marry. On their anniversary night, Silver orchestrates an elaborate proposal involving a ring hidden in a fairy-tale inspired cake.

But her perfect plan crumbles when a rat devours the dessert, launching Silver into an increasingly violent battle for the ring that will upend everything she thinks she knows about her life.

Her best friend Hansel runs interference with girlfriend Lena, buying Silver time to prepare. But something about Lena seems off—her nervous energy and strange shopping list hint at darker intentions than anniversary jitters.

Unknown to Silver, Lena harbors a murderous grudge born from professional jealousy and repeated rejections from their shared publisher. Tonight's
anniversary dinner was never meant to be a celebration—it was meant to be Silver's last meal.
In a climactic collision of misunderstandings and mistimed violence, Silver's chaotic rat hunt inadvertently saves her life. She must navigate the aftermath of
accidental self-defense while discovering that sometimes the real pests in our lives walk on two legs.

Note of Intent
RATtled is a dark comedic thriller about the psychological unraveling of Silver Jensen, whose life is a meticulously crafted façade. To the public, she is glittering, sugar-coated perfection; in truth, she is a woman consumed by the obsession to maintain that illusion, no matter the cost.
The story traces Silver’s descent from pride into desperation. Her carefully constructed world begins to fracture when she encounters Lena, a brooding, troubled writer whose initial admiration curdles into manipulation. Their unsettling bond exposes the fragility of Silver’s control, and her refusal to accept imperfection propels her toward self-destruction.
Silver is a paradox: wildly successful yet incapable of conceding failure. Her relentless need for dominance blinds her to reality, corroding the very things she cherishes. The more she clings to her flawless image, the more she loses— until the damage is irreversible.
The title RATtled embodies Silver’s unraveling. The rat—both literal and symbolic—represents her deepest fears, gnawing at the foundations of her carefully constructed life. It drags her from her comfort zone, exposing the flaws in her obsession with control. What begins as a pursuit of perfection becomes a grotesque satire of ambition, revealing the cost of sacrificing everything for an illusion.
Blending macabre humor with psychological horror, RATtled dissects the dangers of obsession and image. Silver’s escalating desperation twists into absurdity, underscoring the futility of chasing invulnerability. By the time she confronts the truth, it may be too late.
