Synopsis

Our story opens with Alex, a professional photographer, sitting through an excruciating review of his portfolio in a corporate highrise. In New York City to drum up business, he is met with a familiar refrain. His work is beautiful. But he doesn’t take enough chances. And his reluctance to put himself out there is holding back his work and career.

In no mood to talk to anyone following the meeting, Alex is perplexed to be tapped on the shoulder and asked for help in navigating the New York City subway system. He’s an out of towner. Only in the city for the day to take meetings. He barely knows if he’s on the right train, nonetheless can he provide directions to others. But, when he turns to see the woman posing the question, the busy world around him slows to a halt.

Sally is the type of woman whose smile melts hearts. Unassuming and content in her own skin, Sally is the kind of free spirit that is the complete opposite to Alex’s pragmatist. In town from her home in London, Sally is riding the train to tick off a few items on her bucket list. They may seem like trivial tourist fare. But she has her reasons. And, if she’s going to go, why go alone.

Alex’s brief encounter turns into an impromptu day-long excursion. Both with plans to leave the next day, they know their time together is limited. But, as they continue to travel together, it becomes clear that theirs is the kind of connection meant to last forever. Despite being polar opposites, they attract. Her unpredictability offers what his life is lacking. His companionship offers her companionship as she goes through a tough time.

When it’s later revealed that she is really in the city to have a major operation, the type she might not wake up from, Alex’s support suddenly starts to mean even more. To both of them. Their bond may have only begun hours earlier, but it is already clear that these two are all that each other have.

Faced with the decision to return home as planned, or take a chance at staying in the city to be with this mysterious woman he’s just met, Alex comes face-to-face with his fundamental flaw. Can he take the chance necessary to fully embrace life and fulfill his dreams? And will Sally ever get to experience the true support and companionship she’s been craving for so long? In a climatic moment of decision, we might just get our answer.
